Business Playmakers is honored to introduce the President and Owner of Happy Feet Slippers, Pat Yates. Pat has been an entrepreneur for all of his working career, and has owned multiple coffee companies, as well as mall kiosk companies before becoming involved with Happy Feet in 1995. In 2002, Pat took full ownership, and started the journey to major success such as his slippers being worn by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi on MTV’s Jersey Shore, and featured on an episode of ABC’s Shark Tank. Pat’s decision to take an e-commerce approach to the the business was a game changer and allowed him to reach a much larger audience while not being as vulnerable to struggles of retail business. Adding “Snooki” slippers to the line gave Happy Feet exposure to other television appearances such as The Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America, and The Todays Show, as Nicole would show off her slippers when she made appearances. Currently Happy Feet has agreements with NCAA, NBA, NFL, and DreamWorks Animation to name a few. Pat Yates gives great advice to listeners who aspire to be entrepreneurs including the best advice he ever received which involves a “meal ticket” and a “soup line”.
